Historical rowing raid re-enacted across the Solway Firth
A daring rowing raid across the Solway Firth has been re-enacted.
In 1626, a group of people from the Scottish town of Annan are said to have rowed across the water and stolen a church bell from the English village of Bowness-on-Solway.
The event involves St. Ayles rowing skiffs with teams from around Scotland and a group of schoolchildren from Bowness-on-Solway.
It's the third time the re-enactment has been stage. For the previous two years, it was organised by the Annan Harbour Action Group as part efforts to make the harbour more of a community asset.
This year's race was abandoned after the teams reached Bowness-on-Solway after one boat was overturned by a freak wave. All members of the crew were rescued quickly and were uninjured.
