Speed limit to be reduced on A66 in Cumbria

The speed limit on a notorious stretch of road in Cumbria is to be lowered for eighteen months to try to reduce the number of accidents.

The speed limit on the A66 between Warcop and Brough will be cut from 60mph to 50mph.

There were 32 accidents involving 48 casualties on that stretch of road between 2010 and 2014, plus two fatal collisions in 2015.

The trial will start in May.
