Man jailed for 20 years over child sex offences

A man has received an indeterminate sentence of 20 years in prison and a further five years on an extended license for child sex offences.

Paul Davies, 54, of no fixed address, was sentenced at Preston Crown Court. He had previously lived in Ulverston.

He had pleaded guilty to eight counts of sexual assault against a girl under the aged of 13 as well as four counts of causing a girl under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activity.

He also pleaded guilty to two counts of rape of a child under the age of 13.

All of the offences took place between February 2014 and April 2015.

Paul Davies was arrested in April 2015 after he was caught attacking his victim.

He has been given an indefinite Sexual Offender Prevention Order and ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register.
