A Sumatran tiger which mauled a keeper to death at South Lakes Safari Zoo in 2013 has died.

In an announcement on its Facebook page, the Zoo said Padang had been put down on the advice of the zoo's consultant vet because of "welfare complications".

The tiger had been a resident at the zoo since 2003.

Sarah McClay, 24, died at South Lakes Safari Zoo in May 2013, after being attacked by Padang while she was at work.
