Work begins to repair A592 from flood damage
A 4.3km stretch of the A592 near Ullswater will be closed for the next four weeks, to allow contractors to repair flood damage.
The section of road between the A5091 junction at Aira Force and the U3136 Knotts at Dobbin Wood will be closed to motorists, cyclists and pedestrians for the duration of the work.
As part of the scheme, a section of surface water drain will be replaced at the side of the road and new drainage pipes installed under the road at 12 locations.
Flood damage to embankments will also be repaired and a 2.2km section of damaged road will be replaced with a new surface.
It's expected to cost around £400,000.
The National Trust car park and Ullswater Steamers’ Pier at Aira Force will remain open throughout this period.
