After nearly two months of delays for thousands of rail passengers, direct trains have started to run again between Carlisle, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

The West Coast Mainline north of Carlisle had been closed since Storm Frank caused heavy damage to the Lamington Viaduct on New Year's Eve.

Network Rail has now completed extensive repair works.
