Border weather for Valentine weekend and beyond
It was very cold during the day on Saturday across the Border region, 'highs' hovering around 0.5c in places!
For the remainder of Saturday:
Cloudy with outbreaks of sleet or snow over Lothian and Borders, giving moderate falls over high ground. Mainly dry further west with some brightness over Galloway. Feeling cold with a moderate or fresh easterly breeze. Maximum Temperature 5 °C.
Warnings for snow and ice issued by the Met Office for Saturday night into Sunday morning.
Saturday night:
Outbreaks of sleet or snow over the Borders and southern parts of Lothian clearing south overnight. Drier elsewhere with a frost developing in places. Minimum Temperature -1 °C.
Sunday:
Icy first thing. Mainly dry with the best of the winter sunshine over Dumfries and Galloway. Scattered wintry showers will feed into the east on the freshening northeasterly breeze. Maximum Temperature 5 °C.
Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:
Remaining cold but mostly dry on Monday with some sunshine then frosty later. Dry and bright for much of Tuesday but rain, sleet or snow later, this clearing eastwards Wednesday.
