A request has been issued for more temporary accommodation in the Kendal area to help flood affected residents.

South Lakeland District Council has received multiple calls from families who feel they can no longer stay with friends and relatives.

Whilst there is still available housing for flood victims, the help needed is for those requiring to be close to the centre of Kendal for school and work.

More than 2,200 residential properties have been affected by flooding in South Lakeland, with an estimated 1,800 of those in Kendal.
