Allonby Bay becomes a marine conservation zone
Allonby Bay on the west coast of Cumbria has become one of 23 new marine conservation zones.
The area contains many different species of sponge, soft coral, seaweed, sea squirt, anemone and the reef-building honeycomb worms.
The conservation zone is a means of giving these vulnerable species the space to recover and to promote a healthy marine life in Allonby Bay.
