South of Scotland MP announces he's gay

Scottish Secretary and South of Scotland MP David Mundell has come out today as gay.

In a message on his website, headed 'New Year, New Start', Mr Mundell said going public about his sexuality had been at some points "harder than standing for election, speaking in the House of Commons or being cross-examined on television" but that he felt he had to make the announcement to be "truly happy on a personal level".
