Fire station campaigners organise protest march
Campaigners fighting to save Lazonby fire station from the axe have arranged a protest march in the village.
The event takes place at Lazonby Auction Mart on Saturday and will be followed by a "campaign night" with music in the village hall.
Cumbria County Council has published plans to close Lazonby and four other fire stations - Arnside, Frizington, Staveley and Walney - in a bid to cut costs.
Crews from Lazonby worked round the clock throughout the Storm Desmond floods and say this highlights the importance of the service they provide.
Cumbria County Council says it has no choice but to make savings due to a reduction in Government funding and argues cover can be provided from other nearby fire stations.
