Popular Cumbrian zoo to close after shock announcement

South Lakes Safari Zoo is to close in January, its bosses have revealed in a shock announcement.

In a post to the Zoo's Facebook page, they say the decision is due to Barrow Borough Council, who they say have "constantly harassed them" over the past two years.

The council has ruled that public walkways at the Zoo should be shut due to safety concerns.

In a further Facebook post, staff at the Zoo went into more detail, accusing the council of "harassing" them:
