Two men rushed to hospital after being struck by a falling tree on the A7 near Galashiels

Two men have been rushed to hospital after being struck by a fallen tree as they tried to remove another fallen tree from the A7.

At 3pm, a 57-year-old man - who sustained serious leg injuries - and a man aged 27, got off a public service bus on the A7 road just south of Galashiels, to remove the tree which was blocking the roadway.

They were hit by another falling tree which also landed on the front of the Edinburgh to Hawick X95 bus in 70mph gusts.

Both men were rushed to Borders General Hospital.
