Council agrees to progress negotiations for the sale of Mansion House
Eden District Council has agreed a series of recommendations that will allow officers to negotiate with two interested parties over the sale of the authority's Mansion House offices in Penrith.
The Grade II listed building, built in 1750, was initially put on the market for £1.1m in April 2012.
Proceeds from any future sale of Mansion House would fund the Council’s 'One Site' project; which would build an extension to the Town Hall in Penrith to house all of the Council’s staff at one location.
The estimated annual running costs for the proposed Town Hall extension are £90,500 compared to the annual maintenance costs for Mansion House of £123,000.
