Bungling burglar left hat and keys at scene of crime
A drunken bungling burglar left his hat and keys at the scene of the crime, a court heard today.
David Ferguson, 44, crept into the Durdar Road property, in Carlisle, on the evening of 12 December last year while the occupant was elsewhere inside.
Under the influence of alcohol, he left a freezer door open before walking off.
He left empty-handed, having not stolen anything, and left his belongings behind.
He was sentenced at Carlisle Crown Court today (12 November) having pleaded guilty to one charge of burglary with intent to steal.
Recorder Stephen Bedford imposed a nine-month prison sentence but suspended it for two years.
Ferguson, of Lediard Avenue, Carlisle, was also made subject to supervision and alcohol treatment requirements.
