The world's best Powerboat drivers and their teams have descended upon Coniston Water for Coniston Powerboat Records Week.

The 45th annual event is considered as the world's premier speedboat race as top international drivers battle it out to raise the bar of speed in everything from tiny hydroplanes to Formula 1 catamarans.

The bravest Formula 1 drivers will be racing to beat the Powerboat world speed record of 159.23mph.

The youngest racer in the competition is 14-year-old Thomas Mantripp, who will be competing alongside racers with over 40 years experience.

For almost 100 years, Powerboat record attempts have been made on some of the Border regions biggest lakes including Ullswater and Windermere - with some of the most famous boat racers making a name for themselves in the Lake District.

Record breaking attempts will take place on Coniston Water from Monday 2nd November until Friday 6th November - when hopefully, a new world speed champion will be crowned.
