Forty years ago, Doug Scott and Dougal Haston became the first Britons to reach the summit of Mount Everest.
The 1975 exhibition, led by Sir Chris Bonington, was the first to successfully climb the notorious south west face of Everest - the subject of five previous failed attempts.
Doug Scott told ITV Border that the ascent was challenging, and that he nearly turned back when one of their team didn't arrive at Base Camp:
The team soldiered on, but their problems were far from finished:
After around 15 hours, they did reach the summit:
But not everyone from the exhibition made it back down.
Climber and cameraman Mick Burke was part of a second push for the summit, but the weather began to deteriorate, and he was never seen again.
