Refugee aid centres inundated with donations
Aid centres set up across the south of Scotland to help the thousands of refugees in Calais say they've been inundated with donations.
The Massive Outpouring Of Love group only began in Dumfries two weeks ago, but since then they've filled depots and warehouses with clothing and food.
Tonnes of boxes have been donated at collection points across Dumfries and Galloway, which now need to be sorted into order, before being sent down south.
The aid is being collected for the thousands of refugees who are living in massive refugee camps, after fleeing war-torn countries like Syria and Afghanistan.
In Carlisle, the situation is similar. Calais Action Carlisle are no longer asking people to donate clothing, but would like help with transportation.
They've had over 60 volunteers helping with moving boxes into temporary storage and sifting through the piles of donations.
South Lakes MP Tim Farron has praised the Cumbrian community for their effort, and is reminding people of the county's previous history with aiding migrants and refugees:
The Scottish Borders also have a number of centres up and running. The council is also giving their backing to the cause.
With more and more refugees fleeing the danger in their home countries, it's likely that further aid will be required.
People from across the region are being asked to contact their local aid centre if they'd like to help in any way.
