Scottish Borders housing not boosted by Borders Railway

The Borders Railway hasn't yet led to an anticipated increase in house sales, and average prices, in Scottish Borders towns close to the new stations.

There are stations for the new line in Tweedbank, Galashiels and Stow.

Over the last three years, the number of residential sales within five miles of these stations increased, but by a lower percentage than in the Scottish Borders on the whole:

The average price for houses has also been largely unaffected, since the railway was announced in 2006.

It's gone up, but by considerably less than in the Scottish Borders on the whole:
