Wasdale Mountain Rescue volunteers were called out at 1am this morning to reports of flashing lights on Harter Fell.

The concerned member of the public was worried these flashes were a warning signal from someone in trouble.

The Wasdale team leader decided to wait for first light before taking any action as there was not enough information to mount a call out.

After trekking up to the location, the Team Leader found an abandoned campsite. The rubbish the volunteer cleaned up included cans, tent poles, yellow wellies and broken seats.
