Peebleshire woman calls for more support for transgender people in rural areas
A transgender woman from Peebleshire is hoping to get through to the finals of a competition aimed at spreading a positive message about transgender people.
22-year-old Jai Latto from Walkerburn has to get through the regional final in Glasgow on the 16th August.
In an interview with ITV Border she said that the timescale of changing gender has taken longer because of the lack of support in the Border region.
Jai is hoping to highlight the issues of living as transgender in a rural community and has been calling for more support to be given to transgender people in the borders, especially in schools.
