A large part of the historic Bluebird boat that crashed on Coniston Water nearly half a century ago is back in the Lake District.

About a ton of the conserved and rebuilt Bluebird K7 has now been put on display at the Ruskin Museum in Coniston village.

A group of volunteers - who are based in the North East of England - will evenutually rebuild the whole of the boat but that could take a few years.

The aim is that Bluebird, once synonymous with Donald Campbell's speed record attempts, will eventually once again be driven on the water at Coniston.

And the volunteers are keen to celebrate the amazing feat of engineering behind Bluebird, as well commemorating the crash that ended Donald Campbell's life.
