A new scanner worth nearly £1 million has been installed at the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle.

The £900,000 SPECT/CT gamma camera is the first of its kind in north Cumbria.

As well as being able to carry out the same scanning tasks as the camera it replaces, the new equipment performs CT scans.

The Trust says this will help deliver clearer images that will lead to more accurate diagnoses.
