Scam callers target Talk Talk customers

Cumbria Police are warning the public to be aware of bogus telephone calls from people claiming they are from Talk Talk.

Police have recently received two reports where fraudsters have tricked Talk Talk customers in order to gain access to their computers..

In both cases, the caller was armed with lots of information and billing details about the victim.

Under the guise of addressing real problems with the victim’s internet, the caller claims they need to accesses the individual's computer to refund money.

Once the caller has access, they log on to online banking and try to remove money from the accounts.

At this time no one is believed to have had any money stolen, but police are urging people to be aware of the scam.
