Ice climbing challenge to raise money for Nepal

Cumbrian mountaineers Doug Scott and Chris Bonnington have launched a24-hour challenge to raise money for survivors of the Nepalearthquakes.

They're inviting over 250 people to join them on 12 June to scaleCumbria's only indoor icewall over 1000 times at the King KongClimbing Centre in Keswick.

They're attempting to reach the same height as Mount Everest to raisemoney for Doug's charity Community Action Nepal.

The money will be spent on helping the rehabilitation of Nepal withhousing and infrastructure.

It comes as Keswick Mountain Festival changes its programme toincorporate fundraising events for Nepal, with £1 from the sale of alltickets bought over the weekend going to CAN as well as many B&Bsdonating part of their profits and a large sale of climbing gear forcharity on Sunday.
