Lillie was given hours to live, now she's taking her first steps

Lillie Mai.

A little girl from Maryport is taking her first steps on prosthetic limbs, after both of her legs and one arm were amputated.

When she was a baby, Lillie Mai's parents were told she had hours to live.

That made her first birthday even more special - for her, her parents and all those who were able to celebrate.

Lillie's birthday celebrations were even more special.

£60,000 was raised at her first birthday, and she now has three new artificial legs, the first she's been able to use successfully.

Lillie is now walking by herself.

There's still a long way to go: as she grows up she'll need more sophisticated ones that can bend at the knee.

But for now, her parents are delighted that she has made the most significant step forward in her recovery.
