Smile daddy, I am dying
Alex Hood died in 2008, aged just 19.
Throughout her life, and since her death, her father has been campaigning tirelessly to raise awareness about her condition, and funds to combat it.
Alex suffered from Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa, a rare condition that leaves the skin tender to the touch, and can lead to blistering, sores and ultimately death.
Her father, Robin Hood, dedicated his life to helping her, and others with the condition.
Having been a successful businessman, his efforts cost him his livelihood, as well as his family.
He's now released a book 'Smile Daddy, I am Dying' to further support DEBRA - the Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa Research Association.
The title came from what Alex told him, when they had been told by a consultant that all hope was lost.
Forewords to the book were written by Bill Clinton and Gordon Brown, after Robin wrote to Bill Clinton 2,000 times.
