The mother of the late Alice Pyne says she's been "overwhelmed" by the response she's received after issuing a plea to help find a necklace made using her daughter's fingerprint.

Alice died in 2013 from blood cancer, and Vicky Pyne says the necklace was one of many memories her teenage daughter had wanted to leave behind.

But it fell from her mother's neck in New York on Valentine's Day, and since then the ongoing appeal to track it down has gained international coverage.

Vicky first posted the appeal on social media, asking for help finding one of her "most precious possessions".

Since then hundreds of people, including TV presenter Davina McCall, have shared the post in a bid to reunite her with the necklace.

Media in New York also joined the campaign.

During her life, Cumbrian born Alice founded Alice's Escapes, a charity providing holidays for seriously ill children and their families. She and her sister Milly were each awarded the British Empire Medal in 2012 in recognition of their charity work.

The 17-year-old gained many followers on Facebook and Twitter as she documented her charity work and her experience with cancer.

Now her mother is hoping to use the platform to find the lost piece of jewellery that meant so much to her.
