Border 5-day weather outlook

Parton Sunset Credit: JOHN McBETH

There's a lot of dry weather to come for the week ahead.

We start the week with a lot of cloud and some rain threatening from the northwest, but once this clears southeast overnight Monday it leaves us with a mainly dry story but with colder air.

Days will feel chilly, with a return of overnight frosts. Mist and fog will return from midweek as winds fall light.

Here's your BORDER forecast for the next few days.....

SUNDAY:

A dry and bright day with some sunshine, the best of this likely over Dumfries and Galloway and across the western Borders. Some fog patches developing from around dusk. Highs 10 °C.

SUNDAY NIGHT:

Dry this evening and overnight with clear periods. Some dense patches of fog forming through the evening, these lingering through the night. Patchy frost. Lows 3-4°C.

MONDAY:

Fog slowly thinning through the morning then dry with some brightness in places. Thicker cloud bringing some rain or drizzle from the northwest later in the day. Highs 9°C

TUESDAY:

Dry and sunny. Plenty of blue sky but feeling colder. A widespread frost overnight with rural lows down to -2°C

WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY:

Mostly dry and bright - but chilly, after early frost and fog.

Perhaps a cloudier day on Thursday compared to midweek. Brighter spells rather than sunny. Fog slow to clear as winds fall light.
