Border Weather - The Week Ahead
For the start of this week it's a mixture of sunny spells and heavy showers, with this mix continuing into Holiday Monday. Showers will by then be most likely up the spine of the country, with drier and brighter weather either side.
From Tuesday it becomes generally more unsettled as cloud and weather fronts feed in off the North Sea and low pressure sits to the southeast of the country. This means an east -west split in our weather over the coming days....
EAST - Cloudier skies. Rain at times. Chilly easterly airflow.
WEST - Some shelter from easterly. Rain more showery. Better chance of drier, brighter breaks.
Here's your forecast for the Border region...
REST OF SUNDAY:
Rather cloudy with some scattered showers which will become more widespread through the day, becoming slow moving, heavy and thundery in the afternoon, especially across Cumbria. However, there will also be some sunny intervals in between showers. Highs 17 °C.
SUNDAY NIGHT:
Showers will continue into the evening, still locally heavy. Overnight, showers will ease in intensity and gradually die out with most places dry with clear spells by dawn. Lows 7°C
HOLIDAY MONDAY:
More in the way of sunshine for most areas on Monday, but there continues the risk of scattered, perhaps heavy showers developing through the day. These are more likely over the Cumbrian hills and should ease through the evening. Highs around 17-18°C in the sun.
OUTLOOK:
Some bright spells at first on Tuesday, but showery rain is likely to push in from the east later, most likely for The Borders and central hills, and continue through Wednesday and Thursday. Galloway and west Cumbria may fair best with drier and brighter weather.
