Lottery funding supports Cumbrian town
Although many villages are struggling to keep local services open, one community in the Lake District are proving that with a little team work, it can be done.
People in Ennerdale Bridge have already rallied round to re-open their local pub and have now received a large grant to turn a disused forestry building into a village shop with space for community activities.
This is made possible due to a £500,000 grant from the Lottery.
The locals were shocked but pleasantly surprised when they heard the news:
The shop will also be for walkers that pass through Ennerdale Bridge.
It is hoped the shop will be open in March or April next year.
