To the North Pole - and back!

A lab technician from Newcastle University is to make a solo expedition from Resolute Bay to the North Pole - and back again!

Tim Williamson's 2,200 mile journey will take between 100 and 120 days - which means he'll be travelling the length of a marathon every day. And for half of the time Tim will be running - even though he's dragging all of his supplies behind him on a sled.

A special website has been set up at www.thenorthpoleexpedition.com so that people can follow Tim's preparations and the expedition itself which begins on 13th January.
