Police have named a man who died after being hit by a car in Carlisle on Saturday evening as Kenneth Graham, aged 67, who lived locally.

Mr Graham was struck by a Skoda Octavia as he crossed Newtown Road. He was treated at the scene by members of the public and paramedics but died later at the Cumberland Infirmary.

His wife Natasha described him as the most perfect husband a wife can wish for saying, “He was my rock.”

“He wanted to do so many things, he had so many interests. He was known to all that met him as a special, kind and caring man. Losing Ken leaves a hole in the lives of all the people who knew him which can’t be filled. Everyone who knew him knows what a deeply special person he was.”

“Nothing can ever prepare one for such a tragedy. And when it happens all one can do is to draw strength from the happy memories of a very very special person. His loss leaves me inconsolable and I would not wish for anyone to experience the depth of despair a tragedy like this leaves behind.”

“If anyone can spare a prayer, I would appreciate it because god knows I need it.”

Two local males, aged 41 and 35 years were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and were bailed while police continue with their enquiries.
