An amateur footballer from Norfolk has been jailed for punching a referee so hard in the face he left his victim unrecognisable to his own daughter.

Aaron Wick attacked Karl Smith who was about to send him off in a game between Horsford and Feltwell last year.

The 36-year-old previously pleaded guilty to wounding and inflicting grievous bodily harm back in March.

Sentencing him to 20 months in jail Judge Stephen Holt said Wick displayed "vicious behaviour" which left his victim with lasting affects and affected his whole family- including his two young children.

The Norfolk FA have given him a lifetime ban from the game.
