Luton Legend Mick Harford takes charge after exit of Nathan Jones

Luton Town legend Mick Harford has stepped in to become Interim Manager of the Hatters, the club have announced.

Harford, 59, who had two playing spells at Kenilworth Road, will take charge of the team for the game against Sunderland - his hometown club - at the weekend.

It follows the announcement yesterday that Nathan Jones had left the club to join Stoke.

Harford, who has managed the club before - winning a Wembley Final in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy back in 2009.

As for Jones' permanent replacement Luton's Managing Director Gary Sweet revealed they'd had more than 60 applicants within 24 hours of his announcement.

Among those strongly tipped for the Hatters hot-seat is former captain Steve Robinson. He's the current manager of Scottish Premiership club Motherwell having made over 200 appearances for Luton in his playing career.
