M1 in Northamptonshire closed after body found in road

A stretch of the M1 in Northamptonshire has been closed after a body was found in the road.

Police made the discovery just after 3am this morning.

Officers say the northbound carriageway between junction 16, near Northampton, and junction 18, near Rugby, is likely to be shut for most of the day.

"Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes and diversions will be in place," a police spokesperson said.

"Witnesses, or anyone with information, can police on 101 or 03000111222 if outside of the county."

An investigation into how the body ended up in the road is now underway.
