Man dressed as clown arrested after chasing woman in Norwich

Police are issuing warnings over the latest 'clown craze' Credit: PA

A 30-year-old man has been arrested after a woman was chased through a park in Norwich by someone dressed as a clown.

The victim was walking alone through Eaton Park around 8.30pm yesterday.

The clown screamed and ran after her before she managed to get away. The craze appears to have been inspired by clown-related pranks in the US and has seen a string of copycat incidents across the country.

Police said a man had been arrested in connection with a public order offence.

Whilst this craze may seem harmless, it is actually quite frightening to those who experience it. It will not be tolerated and anyone caught with the intention of causing alarm, harassment or distress will be dealt with robustly.

I would like to reassure members of the public that we are increasing patrols in the area and that my teams have been briefed about this subject.
