The Conservatives have held Castle Point Council in Essex with a slightly reduced majority.

The Tories made a net loss of 1 seat with a single gain to an Independent.

It cuts the Conservative overall majority on the council, which covers the Canvey Island area, to just three.

The former MP for Castle Point, Bob Spink, is the UKIP candidate in the Essex Police and Crime Commissioner election. The result of that won't be known until Friday afternoon.

Mr Spink was the first UKIP MP in the House of Commons after he switched sides from the Conservatives in 2008.
