Woman injured after shop sign falls on her in Norwich

A woman has been injured after a shop sign in Norwich city centre fell on top of her leaving her unconscious.

Two ambulances were sent to the Clarks store on Briggs Street just after 2.30pm where they treated a woman in her 20s who had suffered head injuries.

She regained consciousness while the ambulance staff were there and has been taken to the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital.

Clarks confirmed to ITV News Anglia that building work had been ongoing at the store.

"Clarks can confirm that an accident occurred outside our Norwich store, causing injury to a member of the public. We immediately called an ambulance and store staff provided aid whilst awaiting medical assistance. The Norwich store is currently undergoing renovations, although is still trading. We are investigating how this accident occurred and ensuring that the ongoing work does not pose a further risk. We offer our deepest apologies to the injured party and will be in contact with them over the coming days.”
