A fatal car fire kept the M11 closed for most of the day on Wednesday 13 January 2016
The southbound M11 near Cambridge is to stay closed this evening following a car fire in which a man died.
The vehicle caught fire on the carriageway at around 8:30am, causing a full closure of the southbound M11 and lane 2 of the northbound M11 between junction 12, for Barton, and junction 11, for Trumpington and the A10.
The southbound entry slip road at junction 12 has been re-opened and traffic is now being diverted up and over the junction.
Highways England say the southbound carriageway will remain closed into the evening while recovery and resurfacing continues at junction 12. The northbound carriageway is expected be fully open by 6.30pm.
