The Lithuanian national was told the charge of murder is too serious to be dealt with by magistrates and his case was sent up to crown court.

Unshaven and wearing a grey tracksuit Jokubauskas spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth.

He is due to appear at Cambridge Crown Court on June 18.

Chair magistrate William Symons told Jokubauskas he had no power to grant bail and remanded him in custody.
