The former Cambridge MP Julian Huppert says that he is "gutted" after he lost his seat to Labour's Daniel Zeichner.
Mr Huppert was defeated by just 599 votes in an incredibly tight contest.
Having had time to digest the loss, Mr Huppert has taken to Twitter to thank the people he served in his constituency and added that he was devastated not to be able to carry on.
