The pilot who died when his light aircraft crashed in Bedfordshire was 46-year-old Stephen Spavins from Spalding.
Pete Jarvis, Chief Flying Instructor, Bedford Microlite Airsports at Sandy Airfield has been paying tribute. He knew Stephen for 6 and a half years.
"Steve was one of life's absolute gentlemen. He adored his family and he loved his flying. He always had a happy smile on his face. If somebody had a problem with their aircraft he'd sort it out."
An inquest has heard a pilot who died when his aircraft collided with another over Bedfordshire had no time to avoid the collision.
