Inquest into pilot killed in mid-air collision

An inquest has been held into the death of a pilot following a mid-air collision in Bedfordshire. Stephen Spavins, who was 46, commuting to work in a Denny Kitfox plane when the crash happened.

The pilot of a light aircraft has died after a mid-air collision with another plane over the Bedfordshire countryside.

The other plane involved in the collision was able to land safely at nearby Thurleigh airfield. Credit: ITV News Anglia

Air accident investigators are still at the scene near the A1(M) on the Bedfordshire Cambridgeshire border.
