Coventry City set to end Northampton Town groundshare and return to the Ricoh Arena

Coventry City look set to return to the Ricoh Arena.

Coventry City could be about to return to the Ricoh Arena, according to reports.

The League One club have been playing their football at Northampton Town's Sixfields stadium for over a year.

Northampton is over 30 miles away from Coventry, and the Ricoh Arena's capacity is significantly more than Sixfields at over 30,000.

It's expected that a statement will be released later today confirming that an agreement has been reached for the Sky Blues to head home.

Secret talks have been held between lawyers acting on behalf of Sisu, the club's owners, and ACL, who manage the Ricoh Arena.

Northampton Town could also be due a compensation payment as part of the conditions drawn up when the two clubs signed a groundshare deal.

Sources suggest that Coventry City could return to their home ground as early as September.
