Coventry City have confirmed that a deal has been reached for the club to return to the Ricoh Arena.

The Sky Blues have been playing their home games at Northampton Town's Sixfields stadium for the past year.

The League One side have agreed an initial two-year deal, with the option of a further two years to return to the 32,000 seater venue.

They will play their first game back in the stadium against Gillingham on 6 September.

"We are delighted to get this deal done and I am sure every supporter of Coventry City will be thrilled with this news.

We are under no illusion what a difficult 12 months it has been for the supporters and that was uppermost in our thinking as we worked to get this deal done.

There has had to be compromise on both sides and the commercial details of the deal will remain confidential.

The support and guidance from the Football League, and especially from Chief Executive Shaun Harvey, throughout our discussions was a key factor in achieving the aim of reaching this agreement and getting the football club back to Coventry."
