Family and friends of murdered teenager Jay Whiston will stage a "weapons awareness" march through Colchester today.

The parade will be led by Jay's mother Caroline Shearer, who set up charity Only Cowards Carry, after her son, who was 17, was stabbed to death at a house party.

The march will begin at midday at the top of the High Street in Colchester, outside the Post Office, and finishes at the war memorial near the castle.

Anti-knife campaigners held their first march in May last year which saw hundreds of people taking part.

Jay, from Clacton, died in September 2012. Edward Redman, 18, of Wayland Drive, Stanway, was found guilty of his murder earlier this year.
