World Water Day
Every year the UN designates the 22nd March as World Water Day, a chance for us all to think about how important having access to sterile water is.
It's a crisis that's proving to be the second biggest killer of children under five worldwide.
Michael Pritchard has seen first hand what a difference they can make to communities who have never had access to clean water.
The filter he’s designed has such tiny pores that not even the smallest virus can get through, only sterile drinking water.
“There are about 5 billion people around the world who don’t have access to clean drinking water, the type of water that you and I would get when we turn our taps on and I think that’s appalling.”
Michael Pritchard, Founder of Lifesaver Systems
His company works with governments and charities, including Oxfam and Save the Children and they help respond to emergency situations.
His products are used all over the world and lIke the UN, Michael hopes he can help put an end to water poverty by 2030.
