Air shows have always been a traditional part of the summer schedule in the East of England but like so many attractions they have become increasingly expensive to put on.
As a result, two of our highest profile shows, at Lowestoft and Southend, have disappeared from the calendar.
Now the Clacton Air Show in Essex has had the sort of opening day it could have done without. After a great summer it was a pretty dismal day along the Essex coast but better weather is expected for the second day on Friday.
