Transplant patient calls for more donors

Pat Smith from Warboys in Cambridgeshire is supporting ITV's From The Heart campaign to encourage organ donation after her life was saved by an emergency liver transplant.

Pat was taken ill on holiday and on her return was told her liver was dying and that she needed a transplant within days.

Pat told ITV News Anglia: "At the time of receiving my liver I didn't feel comfortable thinking too much about the donor or the donor's family. Of course I'm thinking if it wasn't for them, I wouldn't be here now but it's such an emotional ride.

"It's such a thing to get your head around that someone had to die to give you life. I will be having a very healthy lifestyle for my donor and I will be looking after their liver."
